and sitting in a hammock in the sunshine
If I want to, I can go to a room where I can sew to my hearts content. I could probably sew for weeks and not run out of stash.
|This is not the full stash|
Wait... I said people
I'm telling you all of this, mostly to remind myself of these things so I don't start crying about the fact that I've lost all of my personal photos, documents and music from the last 5 years. And the culprit is this little guy:
|You should be hearing the Jaws soundtrack in your head when ever this guy is around. Keep Away From Hard Drives!!!!!|
Yup. That magnetic pin cushion got stuck to the bottom of my laptop and damaged my hard drive beyond repair. Before you ask - I did have a back up. I got my laptop working again, plugged in my back up, and guess what - also broken. I think you can imagine how sad that makes me if I think about it for more than 5 seconds.
So please help cheer me up, and play a little game with me. Here's some (brand new, recently taken) photos of my most recent make. Does anything look strangely familiar about this photo??
The knit top looks right at home in this environment
This isn't my usual photo spot (I don't really have one), but it is someone else's!
Yes, it's Aleah from No Time To Sew! This picture should look a little more like you're used to!
Oh dear! She's found lots of trailing threads on my top - have I ever mentioned that I'm an exceedingly sloppy sewer?
I'm so very lucky to have fellow sewers to cheer me up when I'm feeling crappy. And special thanks for behind the scenes picture taking and driving by Nhi!
If you're wondering, this top is Burdastyle 10-2012-119, and just like that picture, the wrap is a little high, and it kind of falls off the shoulders a little. I made a 40, which is fine, if a little loose, but I should have taken out a little length above the bust. I like it though!
It looks like there's bands on the hems in the picture, but there aren't - it's just twin needled, so take a good gander at that twin-needle channelling, and feel better about your own handiwork.
Since I haven't actually hemmed the sleeves or bottom yet, I think I will add bands instead of turning and stitiching. I really liked how it looked on Jill's Renfrew (I think I'm the last person on earth to sew a renfrew), and the arms are slightly to short on me, so it will be two birds with one stone.
It's taken me days to get around to writing up this post, because I was making this top when I pulverized my hard drive, so I've pretty much been moping on my couch ever since. If you have something shitty going on in your life, and you're in danger of feeling very sorry for yourself, here's something that knocked me out of my funk, I hope it makes you smile too:
